How To Get Into Photography- Tips For New Photographers
Photography sounds exciting but for beginners planning to embrace it professionally, it can be tough. Not only because you have to work really hard to attain the skills but the market is saturated out there as well. With 15, 16, 20 megapixels in a phone camera, everyone is a photographer these days. And some of them are really good at it as well.
If you’re a beginner, who is really serious about making inroads in the photography world, here are some practical pieces of advice for you.
1- Don’t Go For Expensive Equipment
Keep one thing in mind as you’re learning to take photos – it is your skill that counts and not the equipment you carry. High-tech equipment helps but it is not recommended for beginners. Reason being, it is simply too expensive and doesn’t help a person learning the basics of photography a great deal. Just keep on following the fundamentals and you will know when it is time to buy an upgraded camera.
2- Get a Tripod
A tripod, even an expensive one is a good choice for beginners. It can do wonders to the quality of pictures you take if you have shaky hands.
3- Take Your Camera Everywhere
If you’re to be a professional photographer, you need to have your best buddy with you all the time. You never know when that picture-perfect moment might pop up. Other than that, pro photographers are keen observers and observation is a continuous process – so yes, let your camera be your best friend.
4- Make a List
Being humans we all tend to forget. You’re bound to find yourself camera-less on certain picturesque occasions. Don’t worry, it happens to the best as well. Just make sure you remember what you see and make a note of it. Remember important details like the weather, month, day, time, etc. and make sure that you return to capture your lost shot.
Enjoy The Learning Curve
No one is a born professional. Yes, some are gifted with talent while others have to work hard to get up there. It is important for any young photographer to enjoy learning each day. Make it a goal to learn a new thing or a trick daily and then practice it for perfection. Follow professionals and look for inspiration in their work. Give great attention to detail and let it all be easy and natural.
Remember – Rome wasn’t built in a day!
